    AI Compliance in Contact Centers

    Contact centers are among the heaviest adopters of AI. Chatbots, agent assist, quality monitoring, and workforce management all incorporate AI. This creates significant compliance obligations.

    A Fortune 100 telecommunications company deployed AI across their contact center operations: virtual agents handling tier-one inquiries, real-time agent assist suggesting responses, automated quality scoring evaluating calls, and predictive routing matching customers to agents. Six months in, a pattern emerged in customer complaints—certain customer segments reported feeling "dismissed" or receiving unhelpful responses.

    Data governance underlies contact center AI compliance. What data is collected, how it is processed, how long it is retained, and who can access it all have compliance implications. AI that processes sensitive data—financial information, health information, personal communications—triggers additional requirements.
